I don't necessarily agree with everything taught, and in some areas it seemed to stray from Dr Heiser's teaching, but the teacher did a good job of putting out disclaimers of his own (reformed) bias and embracing of platonic thought. I appreciated that he was forthright with it, and the course does a good job of exposing you to alternative views, even if the teacher has a strong preference and is persuading the student towards agreement. The Cortez introductory book was my favorite, and the "Soul, body and life everlasting" by John Cooper is also good.

It was not exactly what I expected, it was much more, and I feel more prepared to go deeper in my own walked with God. The topics he walked us through were critical and he unpacked them in a way to makes sense which was a big task given the vocabulary and ideas cited in his sources. It is wild that the topic of Theological Anthropology was just introduced in this course and that so many Christians have never and perhaps will never ask the questions inherent in the topics covered. I think Mr. Farris was well spoken but down to Earth but didn't lose the attention needed to stay with this tough material. I am enriched by completing this course and will continue to think deeper as I walk out my path of destiny to fulfill God's call on my life.

It was a survey course with many topics to consider; I think he did a great job. There were lots of ideas introduced. I haven't taken any courses in Philosophy before, and this course touches on both philosophy and theology. In fact, Dr. Farris referenced the very scripture that God used on me: Isaiah 1:18 "Come now, let us reason together..." (My BS degree is in electrical engineering, so the fact that God would appeal to reasoning was revelatory to me. You mean it's not just 'blind faith'?!) Anyway, good intro course to those who like to reason our faith by learning to think well.
