The Apocalypse of Jesus Christ, or the Book of Revelation, has been called “a hallucinogenic nightmare,” “a masterpiece of pure art,” and “the Climax of Prophecy.” This last book of the Bible is the climax of all that went before: the Law, the Psalms, the Prophets, the Gospels, and the Epistles. It is a fitting conclusion to the Holy Library that began with the creation story in Genesis 1-2 and ends with the New Heavens and New Earth in Revelation 21-22. In this course, we will take a heavenly journey with the Apostle John through an “open door in heaven” and behold Heaven’s throne room, worship the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, witness the great tribulation, the rise of the antichrist, the suffering and martyrdom of followers of Jesus. But when all hope seems lost, we will witness the victorious return of Jesus, the King of kings and Lord of lords, to defeat all evil, His 1,000-year reign, the final Judgment, and the New Heavens and the New Earth.
Course objectives
After completing this course, you'll be able to:

Explain the key themes, background, authorship, dating, and synthesis of the Book of Revelation.

Understand the eschatological views of the Bible: Heaven and the Underworld, the final Judgement and the Lake of Fire, Resurrection and the New Heavens and the New Earth.

Explain how the Book of Revelation has influenced key historical events and individuals over the last 1,900 years and still wields global influence to this day.

Cultivate a deeper love for God’s Word, specifically Revelation and walk boldly in the Spirit because of the ultimate victory that is ours in Christ Jesus.

Instructor
Dr. Justin W. Bass
Justin W. Bass has a Ph.D. from Dallas Theological Seminary in New Testament Studies. He has formally debated Dr. Bart Ehrman, Dr. Richard Carrier, Dan Barker and Mufti Hussain Kamani. Dr. Bass’ latest book The Bedrock of Christianity: The Unalterable Facts of Jesus’ Death and Resurrection was released April 8, 2020. He has also written The Battle for the Keys: Revelation 1:18 and Christ’s Descent into the Underworld. He is currently teaching at Dallas Christian College and teaching courses online at Jordan Evangelical Theological Seminary in Jordan and Asian Christian Academy in India. When he is not working, he is reading, watching movies (usually The Lord of the Rings), and spending time with his high school sweetheart Allison Bass and their three children.
