About this course
This course is free because of the generosity of our Vision Partners.
There are many introductory courses on the Bible, even on the Old Testament. What is not as common is an introductory course that welcomes a discussion about divine council issues—and even teaches them directly from the text. In this course, Dr. Ronn Johnson will discuss topics that are necessary for gaining a rudimentary understanding of the Bible (language, culture, canon, etc.), but he will also give special attention to those parts of the Old Testament where created divine beings play an integral role in the movement of the story of Scripture (cosmic geography, divine rebellions, sacred space, idolatry, monotheism, etc.). Along the way, you’ll receive an overview of every Old Testament book, giving you confidence as you prepare to read and study the New Testament.

Dr. Ronn Johnson
Ronn Johnson completed his Ph.D. in Bible Exposition at Dallas Theological Seminary. His dissertation on the created gods of the Old Testament (“The Old Testament Background for Paul’s Principalities and Powers”) provided him the opportunity to research the divine council worldview of the Hebrew Bible and apply it to New Testament exegesis. Ronn has taught Bible and theology courses at the college level for over 20 years, has pastored two churches in the Minneapolis area for fifteen years, and enjoys hosting study trips to Israel. He and his wife Susan have three married children and five grandchildren. Ronn’s pastimes include working on his personal library and cheering for the Minnesota Vikings.
