About this course

Approaching the doctrine of salvation through the lens of a divine council worldview will be a unique experience for everyone taking this course. Dr. Ronn Johnson will begin our study by carefully explaining the cosmology of the biblical world, noting how the ancient reader would have understood the relationships of God, rebellious spirits, and human beings. We will then move through the biblical story itself, identifying how familiar terms such as faith, idolatry, righteousness, judgment, and resurrection find expression in the narrative of human salvation. Along the way, we will explore the many Old Testament and New Testament examples of individuals becoming right with God. Our course will conclude by celebrating the ministry of Jesus Christ, the “pioneer and perfecter” (Hebrews 12:2) of our Christian faith, and answer the question still being asked by so many today: "What must I do to be saved?"

Instructor

Dr. Ronn Johnson

Ronn Johnson completed his Ph.D. in Bible Exposition at Dallas Theological Seminary. His dissertation on the created gods of the Old Testament (“The Old Testament Background for Paul’s Principalities and Powers”) provided him the opportunity to research the divine council worldview of the Hebrew Bible and apply it to New Testament exegesis. Ronn has taught Bible and theology courses at the college level for over 20 years, has pastored two churches in the Minneapolis area for fifteen years, and enjoys hosting study trips to Israel. He and his wife Susan have three married children and five grandchildren. Ronn’s pastimes include working on his personal library and cheering for the Minnesota Vikings.
